The Faculty of Fine Arts was established on 25.08.2011 with a total of nine (9) departments: Traditional Turkish Arts, Graphics, Painting, Ceramics, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Radio, TV and Cinema, Photography, Music, and Fashion and Textile Design. The name of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Necmettin Erbakan University was changed to "Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture" in accordance with the decision published in the Official Gazette on 06 February 2021 under number 31387 and defined in the Annex to the Presidential Decision of 05 February 2021 under number 3519. The Departments of Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Industrial Design of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture were transferred to the Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture. In the new process, our faculty took its place in the academic platform under the name of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture in the spring semester of the academic year 2020-2021, as one passive (Industrial Design) and eight active departments.
The aim of our faculty with educational activities in the departments of Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Industrial Design, Traditional Turkish Arts, Graphics, Painting, Ceramics, and Radio, Television and Cinema, which have different characteristics; To bring creative, original, competent and successful artists, professionals and designers equipped with knowledge and skills from the micro to the macro level in order to contribute to bringing the artistic level of society to universal dimensions while developing cultural, artistic, aesthetic, environmental and social awareness at the international level, to educate contemporary artists and designers who can think effectively, freely and critically, to create highly qualified personnel in the fields of art and design in industry, to carry out research, publication and production studies in all these fields, especially in accordance with the needs and possibilities of our country, and to support public institutions in these matters. Our faculty uses the universal language of design and art to train virtuous students with ethical values who can bring different perspectives to science and art and who embrace their own culture, that of sharing and participation, in light of national and international developments in the fields of architecture, science, art, culture, technology and media. It continues its existence with the goal of raising hardworking, consistent, stable and talented scholars and professionals, architects, designers, planners, media professionals and artists who can embrace the identity of a designer and artist, who can combine the experiences of the past with the possibilities of today.
It is important to have dynamic and privileged programmes at the national and international level, to adopt an educational model that involves practice, and to include professionals who are artistically and technically well trained. In this sense, one of the quality objectives is to intertwine with the possibilities of academic staff to obtain qualified works through inter-institutional communication and collaboration.
Within an educational and teaching approach based on contemporary, liberal and professional knowledge, the mission of our faculty is to educate individuals, independent designers, artists and media professionals who are creative, innovative and critical thinkers, capable of competing on a national and international level, with a keen awareness of design, art, culture, aesthetics and the environment, sensitive to cultural and natural heritage, the city, the country and the world, respectful of society and science, technically equipped and prone to interdisciplinary teamwork in the fields of architecture, planning, design and art.
The vision of our faculty is to be a pioneer in the field of architecture, planning, design, and art, and to contribute and to guide developments in the fields of art, design, and media. We aim to be one of the nationally and internationally preferred faculties that develop educational methods and opportunities with contemporary and creative approaches while expanding the sphere of influence of Necmettin Erbakan University with its national and international academic and artistic activities.
