Prof.Dr. Ömer Faruk AKÇA
Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Akça was born in 1979 and completed his primary and secondary education in Konya. He completed his medical education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2005 and his specialty training at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2009. Dr. Akça started to work as an Assistant Professor at Necmettin Erbakan University Meram Faculty of Medicine, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2012. He was promoted to associate professor in 2015 and full professor in 2021 and still serves as a faculty member in the same department. He has been assigned as the Head of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry since 2016. Prof. Akça has been a member of the Faculty Board and Executive Board of the Faculty of Medicine since April 2023. Prof. Akça has worked as a visiting professor in the "Developmental Psychopathology" laboratory at the "University of Houston, Department of Psychology" in Texas, USA and has carried out various projects as a project coordinator between July 2018 and July 2019. A total of six scientific manuscripts produced from these projects have been published in peer reviewed journals and the collaboration process with the department is still ongoing. Dr. Akça has 61 scientific manuscripts published in international journals, 11 book chapters and 47 presentations in international congresses. He has also articles published in national journals and presentations in national congresses. Prof. Akça is a member of the Qualification Commission of the Turkish Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and is the Chair of the Accreditation Subcommittee. Prof. Ömer Faruk Akça is married and has 2 children.
