The Field Crops Department was established in 2021 as the second department of our faculty and will admit its first students in 2021. Our department will start education in our newly constructed building in the 2021-2022 academic year.
The Field Crops Department is the department that most widely represents crop production in Turkey and in our region. The Field Crops Department carries out studies and trains technical staff in 4 different disciplines: Cereals, Edible Legumes, Industrial Plants, and Meadow-Passage Forage Crops.
The aim of the research activities is to be carried out in the department in order to contribute to the healthy and adequate nutrition of the world's humanity in general, and the people of our country in particular and to carry out basic and applied research to reveal the principles of growing field crops, especially in the Central Anatolian Ecology, to produce sustainable high yields and high-quality products, and to make the necessary effort to implement the results of this research at the producer level.
Undergraduate students of our department will have the opportunity to take part in the research projects carried out in the laboratories of our expert faculty members during the semester and during the summer months and will be able to reinforce the theoretical education they have received with their practice. Our students will be encouraged to receive applied education at universities and other research centers in the country and abroad, both within the department and within the framework of joint projects. Our department program provides our undergraduate students with the basic knowledge and practical skills necessary for them to step into a successful career with the research opportunities offered. After graduation, they are provided with all kinds of equipment to be a researcher in basic and applied sciences, to be an educator, or to take part in the food and pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, forestry, and health sectors.
